On the 1st and 2nd of July I was at Stokes bay for a Ladder/ training event where there is one day of racing and the next day is coached training. In the day racing I finished 28th out of 33 with my best race being in 23rd. The training day, we did lots of races where I was getting top 15 quite often.
On the 3rd of July I was in Brixham doing club racing where we did one race and I got 1st place. This was in very strong winds and I was using a big sail.
On the 8th and 9th of July it was Brixham Regatta where there was barely any winds over both of the days, but I managed to finish joint 6th overall and 1st in the under 18’s.
On the 10th of July it was club racing again in Brixham where we did 2 short races. I got 1st and 2nd. It was very gusty so harder to control the boat.
After this I went to France with the school to do water sports, on the first 3 days we did; body boarding, swimming, coastearing, beach games, slack lining, raft building, windsurfing and high ropes. After this we went to Aqualand for a day which is the 2nd biggest water park in Europe. For the next 3 days after this we were canoeing down the Ardeche river and through the Ardeche Gorge.
After getting back from the water sports trip I went to the Youth Nationals. On the Sunday of Youth Nationals there was over 28 knots of wind and I struggled lots, to the extent of only completing one of the 2 races which was disappointing but many other boats were retiring as well. On the Monday there was slightly less wind so I was able to stay out for both races in which I did fairly well.
In the next blog will be all the results for the Youth Nationals.
